PAEA LEACH
The Year 11 students of The Graduate College of Dance had the pleasure of working with Paea Leach, a former dancer of Australian Dance Theatre and Chunky Move, and currently now working as an independent artist. Ms Leach worked with the students on an excerpt from DEVOLUTION, a work by the artistic director of the Australian Dance Theatre, Garry Stewart.
PAUL BOYD Paul Boyd, international choreographer, working with the Year 11 and 12 students of The Graduate College of Dance during his annual guest teaching engagement at the College.
JESSICA SUE STEYNTJES Jessica-Sue Steyntjes, a 2007 Year 12 graduate of The Graduate College of Dance, on her recent European tour with Salzburg Tanztheater Ballet Company.
SIANNE STRASBERG
Sianne Strasberg was our guest assessor for the 2008 Term 1 Assessments. Ms Strasberg trained at the Royal Ballet School and gained her degree with distinction at Cape Town University. After a distinguished dance career, Miss Strasberg has taught at the Rambert School, London, The Urdang Academy, the Hong Kong Ballet Academy, and worked as Ballet Mistress with the Hong Kong Ballet Company. She has staged productions in Europe, the Far East and for Vienna Festival Ballet, and is currently engaged as a Ballet Mistress for a company in England. DAWN WELLER, GUEST TEACHER, 2008 BALLET WORKSHOP TEL AVIV, ISRAEL Dawn was invited as a guest teacher for an international Summer School held in Tel Aviv, Israel, 21-24 April 2008. The Summer School attracted dancers locally and internationally participating in an intensive programme which included classical technique, pointe work, repertoire and body conditioning. The classical faculty included Fernando Coelho, Prof. of Dance at the Music University of Cologne, Germany.
TIMOTHE AUDIN, YEAR 11 2008 STUDENT OF THE GRADUATE COLLEGE OF DANCE Timothe has been accepted through an audition process to attend the School of American Ballet’s 5-week Summer School in New York. In 2006, Timothe attended The Royal Ballet School Summer School and received a scholarship to attend the following year.
THE ROYAL BALLET SUMMER SCHOOL 2008 Four Year 8 students of The Graduate College of Dance have been accepted to attend The Royal Ballet School Summer School in London in July. Jessica Cox, Keshia Ollivierre, Emma Joubert and Sydney Gallagher were all accepted through a stringent audition process. Since 2005, 21 students of The Graduate College of Dance have attended The Royal Ballet School Summer School.
IADMS (INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATOIN FOR DANCE MEDICINE & SCIENCE) Director Dawn Weller has been invited to be a member of the Resource Paper sub-committee of the IADMS Education Committee. This invitation was extended by Janet Karin, OAM, Head of Artistic Studies and Kinetic Educator, The Australian Ballet School. |
